Bio
Victoria Bakewell is a double bassist and researcher based in Miami, Florida. She has performed with ensembles across the U.S. and abroad, including the Frost Symphony Orchestra, MahlerFest, and Festival Napa Valley, and has toured internationally with The Concordia Orchestra (Greece) and the Frost Wind Ensemble (Austria). Victoria holds degrees from Concordia College and the University of Colorado Boulder and is currently pursuing her DMA at the Frost School of Music under Dr. Brian Powell.
Her award-winning research on the double bass’s rise as a foundational orchestral instrument will be published in the Online Journal of Bass Research and presented at the 2025 ISB Convention. A passionate educator, she has held fellowships at Lutheran Summer Music and taught at CU’s Summer Music Academy. Beyond music, Victoria enjoys reading, photography, and strength training.
