ISB Presentation
I’ll be presenting my research, “The Double Bass: Becoming the Foundation of the Orchestra,” at the 2025 ISB Convention, thanks to winning first place in the Student Division of the ISB Research Competition. This paper explores how the double bass rose to prominence in the orchestra, focusing the instrument’s evolving role, the adaptations players made to secure their place, and how bassists shaped their own legacy through innovation.
